Frequently Asked Questions

What is School-Days?

School-Days helps you build your own education bursary that you can use to pay towards your child's school, college and university fees.

What if I don't have children at school?

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have children at school, as you can build your bursary for anyone –your own education, or for future children or grandchildren. You can also nominate a niece, nephew, a friend’s child or your domestic helper’s child as your beneficiary; or choose to contribute to a school or the School-Days Cares bursary for children in need.

What is a School-Days EDU number?

Your School-Days EDU number is your School-Days member number.

Do I get a School-Days card?

No, you’ll be emailed a School-Days EDU number (this is your member number). This number is automatically linked to our existing Earn Partners so that a portion of your spend is added to your bursary. When you shop at Dis-Chem, you only need to swipe your linked Dis-Chem Loyalty Benefit card to earn your Dis-Chem Loyalty Benefit points as well as a portion of your qualifying spend into your bursary.

What is a School-Days bursary?

The School-Days programme is not an investment product; it is a bursary platform. We facilitate channels of free funding from multiple sources for our members - such as rebates from retailers. These contributions are kept in your School-Days bursary until you’re ready to redeem it. Thus, you own no money (cash) with School-Days, but rather, time (prepaid days of school, college, or university). Your school days do not lose value over time or expire.

What are ETPs?

Because days at different schools come at different costs, we use Edu-Time Points (ETPs) as a proxy for time. 1 ETP = R 1,00. ETPs cannot be regarded as money, can never be withdrawn, or ever be paid out to a member.

How can I use the time/ETPs accumulated in my bursary?

The time/ETPs accumulated in your bursary can be used to pay towards the fees of any SAQA-aligned, registered educational institution - this includes registered schools, college and universities.

Do I earn interest?

The short answer is ‘no’. Since School-Days is not an investment product, you don’t earn interest. However, when you’re an active member building your bursary in various ways, you can qualify to get bonuses from us – the more active you are, the more bonuses we add to your bursary. It’s our gift to you.
